An SPF I actually love
Despite having fair skin, I’ve never really religiously applied sunscreen to my face, except on holiday. I’ve been a bit reckless and hoped my makeup would do the job. As the years have rolled on, I’ve begun to notice how ageing sun exposure can be, not to mention damaging. Uneven pigmentation and generally stressed-out skin isn’t a great look. This realisation forced me to look into finding a decent SPF I could wear every day. My research made it clear that a no half-measures approach was necessary and nothing under SPF 50 would be sufficiently effective. My experience of sunscreens in this range has been thick, white, globby formulations which lie on the surface of the skin and have a tendency to promote breakouts. However, that is no longer the case!
SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50
I’ve tried some super high-end SPF formulations in the past which have been very oily on the skin and I couldn’t have applied alongside my makeup. SkinCeuticals formulation, however, is like luxury, glowy skincare which I can’t get enough of. It protects against UVA and UVB rays which both contribute to premature ageing. I’ve started to apply it over my makeup as it’s absorbed incredibly quickly. It gives a really nice luminescence whilst also being lightweight and most importantly, protective. If anything, this product makes you look luminous even on your most tired days and prevents any unwanted effects of sun exposure. It also leaves no residue, is unscented and does not congest the skin, as is often the problem with more traditional sunscreens. It’s certainly not a chore to apply this everyday, including those overcast ones, we’re so used to in the UK!
The Results
Skinceuticals broad spectrum SPF 50 is the best SPF I’ve ever used on my face. This is a fantastic sunscreen which offers broad spectrum protection, embodied in luxury skincare. I absolutely love applying it and wish I’d known sooner that such SPF existed. Instead of red angry skin after sun exposure, this filters out the sun’s unwanted effects and leaves you with hydrated skin with the softest golden glow.
