Like everyone, I love tidy nails. But, I have nowhere near the patience or the time required for regular manicures. Life requires a low maintenance, high impact approach to nailcare. This is made tricky by the fact I have dry nails which don’t take kindly to gel polish. If I was to throw into the mix a need for clean and vegan nailcare, you’d think it was game over. Not so, thanks to Nailberry.

A few years ago I invested in a very basic DIY manicure set, which I still use every week. Just some cuticle oil, a cuticle pusher and trimmer. Nothing fancy or pricy. Just something similar to this.

My vivacious cuticles but can be dealt with in a matter of minutes in my bathroom without a trip to a salon. A little cuticle oil, cuticles pushed back and trimmed and a quick file and they look a million times more loved and cared for than they actually are!  I’d normally leave it at that because I can’t be bothered with the chipping and drying effect of many polishes. However, having discovered Nailberry, this is no longer the case; a quick coat of polish now elevates them to another level!

Nailberry is a British independent and seeks to deliver colour and shine through a healthier manicure. Their whole philosophy is based on a cleaner and healthier approach to nail care. As a brand they’re sensitive to health and wellness and are vegan and cruelty free. That’s actually relatively rare when it comes to nail care. They’re 12 free which means they’re lacking twelve chemicals found in other formulations, such as formaldehyde, parabens and animal derivatives. Enough to make your stomach turn! Their patented formulation, L’Oxygéné, is breathable and moisture permeable, allowing your nails to maintain their health while still being shiny and colourful.

I love a neutral polish so I tried Candy Floss which was exactly what I was looking for. A flattering nude which offers a little coverage and a subtle pink flush. There is however a colour in their range to suit every taste and occasion

The first time I used Nailberry, I was caught out by their runny formulation. I ended up flooding my nails and having to start again. A little goes a long way and they say this on their website, so that was my mistake! You really only need a thin layer of this to get shiny, glossy nails with subtle coverage if you’re in a hurry. If you have the time, a couple of coats, along with a base and top coat (both available from Nailberry) provide a professional looking finish which lasts just over a week. Much less chipping than my old OPI go to. This is definitely a new favourite for a lovely, super healthy, clean manicure in a hurry!

Nailberry also make a clean Nail Colour Remover. It was only after my last fated dalliance with gel polish that the manicurist told me how important the removal process is. Often it can damage your nails more than the polish itself. With this in mind, I was keen to try Nailberry’s Colour Remover.

No ordinary remover, Nailberry’s luxurious formulation is infused with Muscat Rose oil and AHAs which help to hydrate, rejuvenate and restore your nails. It’s beautifully presented in a glass bottle with the rose oil adding a lovely pink hue. This remover is clearly not an after -thought to the beautiful polishes in the range.

As well as offering a clean and nourishing formula, this is an effective remover. A little of it on a cotton pad was enough to easily sweep away one coat of polish from both hands. Fully manicured nails were also quickly  and easily removed. My nails were actually visibly nourished by using Nailberry Colour Remover. They look and feel healthy. This is in stark contrast to other removers that visibly strip the moisture from your nails. A fantastic, luxurious addition to any DIY nail kit.
