Do LED Facemasks work?
During lockdown I became aware of LED face masks, with social media full of videos of celebs and their Darth Vader masks. Being pregnant and bored, I bought one to see what all of the fuss was about. My skin was wrecked and I felt a hundred years old, so the bar was pretty low for signs of improvement! The list of potential benefits was endless. The red and blue LED would apparently work together to boost collagen, improve skin density, reduce fine lines and discolouration and also reduce acne. But could one of those masks really do all of this?
DrX Spectre Lite FaceWare Pro LED Face Mask
The Dr Dennis Goss mask offers a combination of red and blue LED settings. Red LED offers a huge number of benefits, including evening skin tone and texture and reducing sun spots and discolouration. It apparently penetrates deep into the skin to boost collagen production and reduce fine lines and wrinkles whilst firming the skin too. Blue LED kills acne causing bacteria to help clear mild and moderate breakouts. Offering blue and red LED settings is preferable to other masks which offer red LED only. The combination allows you to tailor your use to suit your skin’s needs each day.
The Dr Dennis Goss mask is handsfree and could not be quicker or easier to use. You simply put on the mask over cleansed skin and secure it around your head with the straps provided. There are 3 settings to choose from, red LED, blue LED, or a combination of both, each lasting 3 minutes. After use, apply your night time or daytime skin care, the effects of which are said to be enhanced by using the mask. It comes with a charger and once fully charged can provide approximately an hour of use.
The Results
The combination setting offered by the Dr Dennis Goss mask allows you to benefit from the many fantastic effects of red and blue LED. While you only have to use the mask for 3 minutes a day to see results, I often use it for 6 or so minutes a night, several times a week while I read in bed. If you have a breakout, the blue LED setting is particularly useful in clearing it up and quickly. If your skin feels sensitised by the cold weather in winter or just due to stress, the red LED setting is particularly soothing. It’s quite amazing the beneficial effects LED alone can have on your skin. It’s non-invasive, quick and suitable for all skin types. I absolutely notice the difference in my skin if I don’t use the mask for a few nights.
The Dr Dennis Goss face mask unquestionably calms your skin, helps to clear breakouts, reduces fine lines and generally leaves your skin feeling super charged and glowy. While I may have bought it on a whim, four years later, I still use this several times a week. I really do love the effect it has on my skin and it’s completely hassle free to use. While the mask is undoubtedly an investment, the beneficial effects of LED are quite addictive and after years of use the price per use must be down to pence. So, despite my initial uncertainly, I’ve certainly not regretted investing in one of those masks.
